It's Bocce time again at Turner Camp...Labor Day Weekend, Saturday morning.  For every participant checked in on the hill prior to 9am, you will receive a ticket for a free beverage or hotdog/chip combo.  We will start as soon as we have a foursome.  We are excited to say we have paired up with the playground committee again this year and profits will be going towards purchase of new, safe playground equipment for our youth.  In addition, we have decided to raise the price to $10/player.  Keep in mind that prices have stayed constant over the past few decades and we have seen less profits due to participants bringing in outside food and beverages.  We highly encourage online registration in order to streamline this process this year at https://goo.gl/forms/K889MJTLF8avv2tx2.  If you are unable to complete this process online, please find one of the Becker’s over the weekend.  We will also take walk up registration up til 8AM on Saturday morning. Finally, in order for a successful tournament, we need all participants to stay on the hill and be available to play when announced.  Tournament Central received many complaints about delays in playing time due to "missing players".  While we want to keep this day fun, please be fair to your partner and not make us scratch anyone this year.  As with all turner events, we depend on volunteers to referee the games...if you're willing and able, please hang near tournament central let us know when you're available.  Also anyone with Bocce balls, please bring them up the hill with you Saturday.   Please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. Pool - I’d like to begin by thanking a few people who made my first year as Pool Chair very rewarding. Pool committee members are Dave Williams, Scott Garelli, Tony Garelli, and Laura Oroni.  With a delicate balance of managing equipment and chemicals, this committee is doing a great job.  Last Fall we began remodeling the mens and womens bathrooms and a big thanks goes to Dave Cross and Art Stevenson.  A fantastic job was done by Kelly Van Dahm and staff for keeping the pool clean and well organized. Thanks to the Litza family for donating the shade canopy over the baby pool.  it is simple, functional, and looks great.  I would also like to thank all who came out during work weekend to clean, paint and give a new look to an old but vital asset of our Camp.We all need to remember that our pool is 37 years old and therefore at least 12 years passed it’s life expectancy.  Turner donations to the Memorial Swimming Pool Fund are an on going necessity for the day when major repairs are needed. Have a safe and healthy winter.  See you next Summer. Thanks Dave Zweifel Pool Committee Chairman

Recycling Program - We would like to update everyone on some activities regarding the recycling program. First of all, thanks to all you for participating in this very beneficial program. It's great for the environment, the correct civic responsibility and it's the right thing to do for our children. And when you get down to the basics, Illinois Turner Camp is a children's camp. That's why it's here, and why we are here.Having said that, some clarifications for all everyone. There are two 6 yard dumpsters in camp for recycling. One is in the big parking lot, the other behind the Rathskeller. These are clearly marked as recycling cans and obviously only for recycling. These are single stream cans meaning all recyclables can be put in the cans, no separating needed.
Follow the same guidelines as you would with your home recycling. Please no glass, except bottles, styrofoam, wet cardboard or pizza boxes in these cans.Plastic, paper or cardboard( not wet) glass bottles, cans and any other acceptable recyclables are ok.We continue tohave blue 55 gallon drums spread throughout camp. They are still only to be used for cans, not any other recyclables or refuse. In the Rathskeller are garbage cans marked cans only. Since we are now serving some beers in bottles, it is OK to put those bottles in those marked garbage cans. That will eliminate those bottles being thrown into the garbage, and get them recycled also. Again thanks for everyone's help on this effort. It's made our beautiful little place better for all of us. Thank you, Buildings and Grounds
Recycling - IMPORTANT UPDATE We now have new recycling cans inside the Rathskeller and on the patio.  These cans are blue, two inside the Raths, one outside. These are designed to accept both cans and bottles. PLEASE use these containers appropriately. Do not not put cans and bottles in the refuse cans any longer. We all appreciate everyone's participation in this matter. Thanks, Buildings and grounds
