Swimming

Illinois Turner Camp Memorial Pool

The Turner Camp Pool boasts 198,000 gallon capacity, with 6 Olympic size lap lanes and diving area.  Built originally in 1980, this concrete pool was refurbished to a fiberglass pool in the Spring of 2008, adding valuable years to this important asset of Turner Camp.

There is also a Baby Wading Pool, a separate beer garden and a covered deck for reading or enjoying the pool atmosphere out of direct sunlight.  The pool is open 7 days a week, with swimming lessons, water aerobics and free swim.  On the weekends, the pool is an important gathering place for families with open swim.

Turner Camp holds an Annual Swim Meet for campers and families, and also a Pool Party during the summer to raise funds and offset pool costs.  The Camp Pool typically opens first week of June and closes on Labor Day weekend, and gets a ton of use during those open months.

Horseshoes

Horseshoes

Horseshoe pits are located in two areas of Camp.  There's two pits behind the Rathskeller and one pit up on the hill above the Sugar Bowl.  Most Tournament Play is done at the Rathskeller, but a friendly game for cocktails can usually be found on the hill.

Bocce

Turner Camp Bocci Ball Tournament

Saturday, August 2, 2017

Every year, on Labor Day Saturday, the Turner Camp Bocci Ball Tournament is an event that you don't want to miss.  It is held at the Turner Camp in Algonquin, IL, up on Flag Pole Hill.  The tournament has been running for over 35 years, and is truly a gathering for fun, competition, and renewing old friendships.

In this day and age of uncertainty, Turners know that they can come together and see old friends, and make new ones at this special gathering.  At present, the tournament is run by the Becker family, and is a double elimination tournament where anyone over the age of 18 may participate.  Pairings are done by random drawing, so everyone has the opportunity to meet net new people and renew old friendships.

Please keep Labor Day Saturday open and we hope to see you at the Bocci Ball!
